Today’s theme song:

These spiders sleep like humans. But do they dream?

“I was a little too young to get involved and go to South America for the Jonestown massacre.”

Let’s take a 58-second ride between stations on Copenhagen’s automated light metro.

Dr. Robert Cornish was a real-life Victor Frankenstein

The bathroom has always been where America fights about who belongs

It’s so crazy & crazymaking to keep hearing people complain about gas prices, as if gas prices are the absolute fuck-up of Donald Trump. People are passionate when they say this, they’re angry, and they’re idiots.

Gas prices are one of the fuck-ups of Donald Trump, yeah, but they’re one of many, many, so many fuck-ups of Donald Trump, and not in the top thousand. Sweet jeebers, war has been started, another war is being lost, fishermen are being killed, billions of dollars have been pilfered, most of America’s longest alliances are in ruins, important American agencies have been kneecapped and padlocked, secret police roam the cities abducting anyone they fancy long as they’re not white, on and on and on, but and the one and only thing you’re angry about is the price of a tank of gas? Cordially, fuck off with that shit.

And now the news…

New York Times coverage of House report with new rape allegations against Trump does not include the word “rape”

The House report also alleges Donald Trump was an “active participant” in Jeffrey Epstein’s rapes and trafficking. The Times coverage, clickable from the above link, says “Democrats are working to paint Republicans as corrupt.”

Former Miss Switzerland Beatrice Keul alleges Donald Trump raped her at the Plaza Hotel in 1993

People has the story the New York Times won’t run. Gotta say, a little off-topic perhaps, but what’s up with People? It used to be all fluff all the time, and it’s still mostly fluff, but I keep seeing… journalism there! Crazy!

RFK Jr makes bigoted remarks about Arabs at Michigan campaign event

Why does the New York Times use ‘bigoted’ in this headline about something bigoted RFK Jr said, but never use ‘bigoted’ when talking about President Trump’s daily bigoted remarks about Somalis, Arabs, and anyone he’s angry at? Seriously, why does the paper of record tell the truth just this once, instead of making it a habit?

Judge rebuffs Trump DoJ’s bid to force California to set aside 20,000 ballots

Excerpt: “This case is about the right of every American citizen to vote in a free and fair election,” Carter wrote in his Wednesday evening ruling. “Never before in American history has the federal government, on the eve of an election, sought to coerce a state and local government to abandon their own Constitutional elections procedures and bend to the will of the Executive Branch.”

“In bringing this lawsuit, the Executive would have this Court believe that it reigns as a sole sovereign,” Carter continued. “But California and its people are sovereign, too.”

Hegseth fires general he accused of leaking information Media

Excerpt: When asked about the firing on Thursday, President Trump mistook General Sylvia for a woman: “She’s got problems,” Mr. Trump said. “She’s going to have big problems. We’re very much looking for leakers.”

Me again: Anyone fired by the Trump regime who wasn’t also hired by the Trump regime should be offered their jobs back after the trials. With back pay, of course.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act was signed into law on November 19, 2025, requiring the Justice Department to release all the files within in 30 days. And yet, a year late, about 99% of the Trump-Epstein files remain unreleased. Why is that, do you suppose?

Right-wing millionaires and billionaires own the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, CBS News, CNN, virtually every local TV and radio station, most local newspapers, and Facebook, Threads, TikTok, and Xitter. Most of the rest of the media is owned by right-wing corporations. The news is ‘shaded’ and algorithmed in favor of gazillionaires and corporations, and you are being lied to.

New York Times exclusive: Inside Democrats’ secret effort to stack Alaska’s ballot

This is a big bowl of so what? It’s unseemly but not illegal to recruit candidates with similar names, hoping to pilfer votes.

Excerpt: Republicans have also taken advantage of this system. When Ms. Peltola ran for re-election to the House two years ago, the state Republican Party backed an effort to help a Democrat — an inmate who ran his campaign from a New York prison — stay on the ballot.

Me again: So the scoop is, Democrats tried to win an election and used Republican-like tactics?

This brings to mind the four, count ’em four front page New York Times stories on Hillary Clinton’s emails, in the ten days leading up to the 2016 election. Like most major media, the Times prefers right-wing candidates and politics, and they’re eager to tip the scales.

Hasan Piker sues CNN’s Scott Jennings in $7-million defamation suit

Excerpt: Jennings played a doctored video of Piker and invented a quotation to falsely accuse him of calling for Black Americans to be lynched on The Scott Jennings Show podcast in August, the complaint alleges. Jennings also sought to use the manipulated video to criticize Democrats, according to the complaint. …

“Mr. Jennings did not merely mischaracterize something Mr. Piker said,” the complaint says. “He took a false, fabricated, and manipulated video of Mr. Piker, added a made-up quotation that Mr. Piker never uttered, and then made accusations that went beyond even what the manipulated footage purported to show.”

Pennsylvania House approves support for shrinking news operations across state

Excerpt: The first bill creates and funds a Pennsylvania Civic Information Consortium to distribute grants to fill critical information gaps in local news operations. The group would be an independent body separate from state government to ensure editorial independence, protect against government interference and allow it to seek money from local, state and national foundations.

The second establishes a state fellowship program for local news to put early-career journalists in community newsrooms where local coverage has diminished or vanished in recent years. According to Rabb, California, New Mexico and Washington already have such fellowship programs in place.

How Elon Musk sabotaged Ukraine

Excerpt: On October 11, a confidential memo went out to military officers across Ukraine, urging them to brace for a catastrophe. Donald Trump had decided earlier that week to ease U.S. sanctions on Russia and to begin buying its diesel fuel. Based on that shift in White House policy, the memo foresaw another act of American betrayal: the loss of access to the Starlink satellite network, which Ukraine uses to operate its drone fleet.

The document warned that Elon Musk, the creator of Starlink, might soon restrict service in Ukraine, and it urged users of the technology to “keep all communication alternatives to Starlink on standby—ready for immediate use—and develop contingency plans.” Two days later, the warnings began to come true. Starlink faltered across the war zone, grounding drones and halting military operations. In one case, it led to the loss of Ukrainian naval drones in the Black Sea, according to two people familiar with that mission.

Former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer needed AI to identify what’s special about her daughter

Excerpt: The task was part of an assignment from her 10-year-old daughter Marielle’s grade school teacher. It was pretty simple: come up with three bullet points summating what made Marielle special. Overwhelmed with the “range and complexity of potential answers,” as the NYT tells it, Mayer asked Dazzle.

“It came back and was like, your daughter is empathetic, creative and an animal lover,” Mayer told the paper, evidently proud of outsourcing the task of knowing basic facts about her own child.

This leak comes just weeks after hackers stole data from the FBI on its employees and job applicants.

News always and only from reliable sources, and I decide what’s reliable — no right-wing bullshit, no Substack because fuck Nazis, no RawStory, Newsweek, or other clickbait sites, and no Jonathan Chait, Malcolm Gladwell, Glenn Greenwald, Ezra Klein, Nate Silver, Matt Taibbi, Matthew Yglesias, or other famous writers with nothing left to say. Written news is preferred; video links will be rare, and damned near never to videos where the reporter sits, stands, or strolls in front of a camera — that’s show biz, not news.

If you’re blocked from reading anything linked above, simply send an email, and I’ll reply with the article’s complete text, via my vast array of fine ad-blockers and paywall-vaulters. And I mean it — if you ask, I will get you the article.
