Wow, Republicans are getting more and more blatant about letting their racism out in public. If you’re thinking, where have I heard that before, about apologizing for being white, it dates back to the 1940s and perhaps earlier, and it’s a common line for haters and white supremacists. Every time I’ve heard it, I’ve thought less of the person who said it, but this time I can’t.

If the administration’s refusal to participate becomes a valid reason to spike a story, we have effectively handed them a “kill switch” for any reporting they find inconvenient. If the standard for airing a story becomes “the government must agree to be interviewed,” then the government effectively gains control over the 60 Minutes broadcast.

Me again: CBS News chief Bari Weiss is not a journalist, shouldn’t be in the room, and she certainly shouldn’t be deciding what Americans are allowed to know.

Like most teevee news, it reports nothing that hasn’t already been reported by print journalists, but visuals hit harder than words on a screen, and it’s a pretty good 14-minute overview.

It’s jawdropping that this article made it to press with so much ignorance and mockery displayed so prominently. The reporter simply cannot conceive of people who can walk a few footsteps or down a hallway, but can’t walk a longer distance or stand in a slow-moving line — and thus need a damned wheelchair.

Sounds like a bribe hasn’t yet been paid.

Me again: When I was young and naïve in my early 60s, I thought the era of rolling death traps had been beaten back by Ralph Nader, and US cars came with safety requirements. Must’ve been my mistake. Is there nobody in the government looking at safety issues, like — doors that don’t open?
