The New York Times kinda sucks.

As a lifelong reader and ex-subscriber to the Times, my opinion is that its ordinary day-to-day reporting has problems, but it's generally within arm's reach of accurate. The Times' coverage of politics, however, is so laughably hollow and bend-over-backwards subservient to America's right-wing lunatics, it's best ignored.

  1. Jill Stein is coasting along on what some tiny fragment of the left imagines something called "the Green Party" could be rather than what it is. It's not a working class party, there's little intra-party democracy and Stein is an absolute ignoramus, as revealed last week when she couldn't remember how many members of the House of Representatives there are (she guessed "about 600"). The Green Party itself is practically invisible when it comes to organizing around environmental issues in this country. It just doesn't exist in that context or any other. The party is a fraud and there's an actual socialist on the ballot if one wants to go that way.

    1. I'd probably be a member, if we had a genuine Green Party in America. But I keep seeing nothing from them, except the Jill Stein Show every four years. If I can afford it, and they promise not to sell my name, I might pay $25 to be a member of Democratic Socialists of America.

I'll confess, I couldn't come up with the number of Reps without Googling it. It's 435. I thought it was 441, which is at least lots closer than 600. Plus if Putin invited me to dinner, I'd say no.

  2. So many congressmen and senators are elected paupers and leave multi-millionaires on a $180,000 salary. The Justice Department has to know something fishy is going on but don't seem to pursue the big fish.

  3. Hi Anon. There are bigger fish than a senator, but not much bigger. The senator from New Jersey is out of a job and likely headed for jail. Unfortunately, there are other ways to make money than out and out bribery: speaking engagements, board positions, campaign funny money. . . there does need to be more enforcement.
