It’s worse than you think.

With a handful of rare exceptions, headlines in mainstream media are treating the Trump circus as if it’s ordinary politics — as if all presidents pick anti-qualified nominees, and issue blizzards of executive orders to worsen every aspect of American life, or as payback against political enemies.

Nobody in media is allowed to say that THIS IS FRICKIN’ NUTS, unless it’s on the ‘opinion’ page. It’s not an opinion, though. It’s a fact.

However bad you think it is, it’s worse than that.

The Republicans’ strategy is to constantly “flood the zone,” saying and doing so many things that are so outrageous, it’s impossible to keep track or fight back. Certainly, Democrats have no interest or intention of fighting back — there’s been near-complete silence from all of them, except AOC.

America as we’ve known it is under siege, and full-on fascism is underway.

Whistleblower says Mastercard, Visa failed to stop payments for child sex-abuse content on OnlyFans

The news here is that Visa and MasterCard haven’t (yet) blocked all income for OnlyFans and its creators, over unproven allegations of kiddie porn. The key word is unproven, but with just a little more public panic, OnlyFans will be driven out of business, which is the end goal here.

Like the Southern state-by-state ID requirement to access porn online, this is only tangentially about pornography. Mostly, it’s about curtailing freedom of speech.

Once the children have been ‘protected’ from porn, they’ll also need to be ‘protected’ from information about gays and lesbians and trans, and from atheist and ungodly ideas, and from radical politics…

I work in a federal office, agency I won’t name. On my afternoon break Friday, a man I hadn’t seen before but management, you can tell, came in to the break room and unpinned and trashed a “Stronger Together” poster, you know, with a bunch of whites and blacks and Asians and a lady in a wheelchair, all posing and smiling together.

Thanks, Anony. That’s a very small sliver of the giant oak tree falling on all of us.

Those posters are bullshit, of course, as is much of the rigamarole and paraphernalia of DEI. In my experience from working with all colors and genders, colors and genders are irrelevant to whether someone’s a worthwhile worker, but *extremely* relevant to who gets hired and promoted. That’s why I’m in favor of workplace diversity efforts.

For a diversity program to work, it has to be something more than shallow PR, and that’s all it ever was at most places. Basically, it was posters like the one you saw being taken down.

My Dad started hiring Black bus drivers and women bus drivers at a time when all bus drivers were white males. I can assure you that the threats he and my family received weren’t PR. It took tens of thousands of people across the country trying to do the right thing for the right thing to happen. It didn’t seem shallow at the time.

People are venting their inner rottenness like I can’t remember seeing before. Just giving it free reign, no restraint.

That guy could have done it afterhours if he felt so passionate about it. Or he could have told YOU to do it. It was important for him to do it personally, in front of an audience, as a gesture of triumph and dominance.

I wish it wasn’t such a cliché, because it’s becoming true but it sounds trite: It reminds me of what I’ve read about the early days of Hitler’s Germany.
