I know someone who might be mentally ill. I suspect this because when I tell her “Hey, I think you might be mentally ill” her face gets red, she starts to cry, then screams with anger, attacks me, tells me I’m mentally ill, stalks off in tears, and I might not see her for weeks.
Doesn’t that behavior prove my point? If she were not mentally ill wouldn’t she just say dude you’re so full of shit, see the humor in it, or ask me to tell her why I would say such a thing?
I think she might have a brain lesion or something which makes her create her own little reality which rationalizes or denies her situation. Then again maybe she’s just a normal self-centered neurotic person trying to survive somehow in the world?
Recently on a Thursday I saw her screaming at her boyfriend, louder than she’s ever screamed at me. (‘Cause we don’t have makeup sex?) Then on the following Monday she told me what a romantic weekend she just had. When I told her that that sounded like a sick relationship she got upset and told me not to contact her again. (Could it still be a healthy relationship, even with all the fighting, often daily?)

Telling someone they’re in a sick relationship seems likely to lead where it led, but hey, you gotta take a chance. If she can’t take it, that’s on her.

We’re all mentally ill, all of America and probably the world, and my perspective is perhaps skewed but the only healthy relationship I’ve ever actually believed in was me and my wife. Everyone else is a sicko. Mental healthiness is an illusion, a pretense.

That said, “Hey, I think you might be mentally ill” seems unlikely to get a reasonable response, even from someone hypothetically not nuts. Shucks, I *know* I’m mentally ill, but the only people who’ve told me I am are all mentally iller than me. I tell them what I’ve told you, that we’re all mentally ill, but nutbag to nutnbag they think I’m the nutbag.

JFK was an immoral pig, but, I believe, he was the last President who actually tried to be President. He tried to eliminate the CIA. He tried to keep us on the gold standard for our money. He tried to keep us out of Vietnam. And yes, he wasn’t controlled by the Israeli mafia. As a human being he was a pathetic wretch. As a President, at least he tried to do best by America and for that they shot him through the head.

Ol’ Fitzgerald was before my time, but I do grow weary of all my elders’ adulation of the rich bastard. Did he really try to shut down the CIA? Did he really try to keep the US from a war in Vietnam? I have my doubts, since it’s the adulators who say so.

Better than Eisenhower, better than Nixon, maybe as good as LBJ, is my amateur retrospective opinion. I’m skeptical that JFK or any of them “tried to do best by America,” but all of the presidents until Trump made a serious effort to look like they were trying.

Why’s that? Because he liked to have sex with rich famous beautiful women?
      You wish…

Nah, I *like* that about JFK. If you’ve got arguably the most powerful job in the world, what kind of man *wouldn’t* easily parlay that into sex with rich famous beautiful women? President Holland sure wood.
