Too many elections scolding us to VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO have produced a hell of a lot of Democrats not worth voting for — they’re spineless, courage- and principle-free, and not merely unwilling to oppose fascism but reaching across the aisle to welcome it.
In 2026, let’s vote for candidates who believe in freedom — definitely not the Republican, and sadly, probably not the Democrat, but here’s one who seems to grasp the idea:
Abdul El-Sayed explains the Constitution to Tommy
El-Sayed’s answer is damned near exactly right. And personally, I disavow the Muslim Brotherhood, the Catholic Church, the Democratic Party, and the Seattle Mariners.
Excerpt: The Handbasket is first to report that Tommy is Thomas Teepell, who, according to his X and Facebook profiles, currently lives in Detroit. Teepell served as Operations Director for Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley until February of this year, according to Legistorm. He then took a job as Political Director for the failed gubernatorial campaign of Philip Sarnecki, a Republican businessman in Kansas.
Tommy’s father is Timmy Teepell, a Republican strategist who worked for congressman and then Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal from 2004 to 2011; he also ran Jindal’s ill-fated presidential primary campaign in 2015. He joined the consulting firm OnMessage in 2011, and helped the virtually unknown Hawley get elected Attorney General of Missouri in 2016. Two years later, he helped Hawley become a United States Senator.
Objective journalist offers Tommy congratulations
The person completely missing the point is Jan Crawford, @JanCBS, the chief legal correspondent for CBS News.

The search of Ilhan Omar’s home fits a very political pattern for Trump and his DOJ
Excerpt: Trump has pardoned 9 of the last 11 Republican congressmen to be convicted of federal crimes.
His Justice Department has indicted, tried to indict or taken reported investigative steps against at least 13 Democratic members of Congress since he returned to office.

Trump’s election fraud task force is going after the people who investigated him
Are the secrets to a Trump post-election coup locked in a White House safe?
Excerpt: But the most frightening presidential powers are the ones that neither you nor I nor Medish and McCleary have seen — the so-called Presidential Emergency Action Documents (PEADs) that, according to some reports, are kept locked inside a White House safe. These were created mainly to ensure continuity of government in the event of a highly destructive nuclear war, but the authors are rightly worried that a panicked Trump could apply these to a domestic crisis — real or invented.
There are believed to be as many as 56 PEADs that have never been seen by the American people, the authors noted, and they apply to such matters as “suspension of habeas corpus, martial law, censorship, the detention of citizens ‘considered dangerous,’ [and] the seizure of property and communications.”

Army officers reported soldier’s wife to ICE
Excerpt: What’s different about Perez’s case is that U.S. military personnel appeared to be working with ICE to identify a potential target and use a long-standing military-recruitment tool—the promise of legal status for loved ones—to facilitate an arrest.

Musk unveils ridonkulous techbro car of the future
Excerpt: Musk showed off the car at an event outside Waco, Texas, with a demonstration that saw the car use a mixture of high-powered fans and thrusters to drive up an inverted ramp, spin around, and ease itself to a landing on the pavement below. The car also used the thrusters to lift itself over a Cybercab, Cybertruck, Tesla Semi, Model Y, and Model 3 while in motion.
“This will be the actual car that’s on the roads,” Musk said of the car, which Tesla showed accelerating 0 to 60 miles per hour in one second. “It literally is just going to puff itself up, and uh, and be able to do this, these maneuvers whenever you’d like.”

Excerpt: “It’s also time to choose sides,” [Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu] said. “Either you are in the camp of the Republic, and therefore of law enforcement — and of those who protect people and property and enforce the laws — or you are on the side of the rioters.”
Me again: I’ve never been to France, and have only the loosest grasp of what folks are angry about there, but I have seen police. Which is why I have never, will never, and could never be on the side of someone so rhetorically, reflexively pro-police as Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu.

The Rev. Kevin McCall, a civil rights activist who appeared at a press conference with Taylor on Wednesday, called MTA’s enforcement efforts a “new level of legal stop and frisk.”

News always and only from reliable sources, and I decide what’s reliable — no right-wing bullshit, no Substack because fuck Nazis, no RawStory, Newsweek, or other clickbait sites, and no Jonathan Chait, Malcolm Gladwell, Glenn Greenwald, Ezra Klein, Matt Taibbi, Matthew Yglesias, or other famous writers with nothing left to say. Written news is preferred; video links will be rare, and damned near never to videos where the reporter sits, stands, or strolls in front of a camera — that’s show biz, not news.
If you’re blocked from reading anything linked above, simply send an email, and I’ll reply with the article’s complete text, via my vast array of fine ad-blockers and paywall-vaulters. And I mean it — if you ask, I will get you the article.
