News, mostly bad

After sanewashing Trump for four years in office and then all through the 2024 campaign, the mainstream corporate media is now sanewashing all his ludicrous nominations. Each is worse than all the others, but the reporting is bland, as if this is ordinary.

If Trump nominated a dead man, the headline wouldn’t mention that the nominee is dead, and the coverage would be a genteel recitation of the dead man’s resumé.

I’ve got a hundred stories to write, several of them possibly worth reading, including several restaurant reviews, a bus ride review, and a bus-load of bus adventures. Maybe I’ll write the long, boring piece about abortion that’s been bouncing in my brain for months, or maybe I’ll abort it.

The gumption it takes to write keeps eluding me, though, and a silly “bomb cyclone” doesn’t help — we got bombed yesterday, leaving most of the metro area without power for 2-20 hours. I will never be able to hear “bomb cyclone” without snickering, though. What a stupid, clickbait name for “severe storm.”

Anyway, stay tuned. Something better is coming, I hope.

I take no small amount of Schadenfreude in watching the MAGAs realize that 45’s (NEVER say his name) policies are going to fuck them over just as royally as everyone else.

Yes, a lot of people are going to be hurt (or worse) over the next four years, but I think the only thing that will ultimately save us from the worst of his intentions is the fact he surrounds himself with absolute imbeciles who couldn’t rip themselves out of a paper bag if trapped in one.

    I hope I’m correct

I’ll join in that hope, but mostly I worry. These freaks seem determined to dismantle and (maybe) reassemble America, and none of them have the brains to do it right, but some of them have the brains to do it.

Zaid’s video is unwatchable, thanks to all the standard YouTube visual hijinks, but it’s listenable, and pretty smart. What makes it worth hearing is that he’s reading text he’s written, *not* ad libbing on camera.

Zaid’s mistake, in my opinion, is his assumption that ordinary rules will apply — that Trump can’t do this or this or this, because there are laws to prevent it. The man has lived his entire life above the law, and has all the apparatus of government behind him in his plans to violate the law.

I listened for 14 minutes, until he started pitching for his sponsors. Homey don’t play that. I like the guy, though. He seems smart, but needs to take a deep breath and chill.

Here in America, undocumented immigrants provide MOST of the labor in harvesting crops, meat processing, and restaurant kitchens. Trump’s mass deportations would cause massive inflation in food prices, like never seen before, with crops rotting instead of reaching grocery stores. Republicans are all about money so you hope they wouldn’t be so stupid, but stupidity seems to be their recent branding so brace yourself.

Trump One was a lot of random stupidity, but Trump Two seems to be stupidity with a stupid plan.

I’m braced. Two months to go.

That thing about the restrooms in congress… In any job except congress, would be a slam dunk sexual harassment suit.

Yup, Congress always writes themselves as the exception to any workplace rules.

Freaks me out how much it freaks out the Republicans that not everybody is straight white male and Christian.
