Minneapolis Police drove around in an unmarked vehicle, shooting random people with rubber bullets and without warning, until someone shot back in self-defense. For this, Jaleel Stallings was beaten, arrested, and prosecuted.

It happened a year and a half ago. It’s all on police bodycam. Stallings has been acquitted. No police officers have been fired, or disciplined. But don’t worry, “an internal affairs investigation is underway.”

Because Guano is out there, I’ll start this by saying I don’t know (or even much care) who killed JFK, 9/11/2001 was brought to you by hijackers and terrorists, Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, and anyone who thinks COVID-19 isn’t a dangerous disease is dangerously stupid.

Many people, though, believe a great many conspiracy theories, most of which are outlandish and ridiculous. They’re idiots, but one undeniable fact underpins and motivates the creation of their bullshit claims:

America’s leaders lie, when it suits their purpose. They’re lying to us now, about all sorts of things, and most of their lies will never be known to us.

Where I break with the wingnuts is only in scale and self-confidence. It takes a serious lack of intelligence to believe that everything is a lie, everything is a onspiracy, nefarious actors are controlling everyone in power, and nothing should be believed unless Donald Trump says it — and that only they, the non-sheeple who watch OAN News, understand everything (or anything) about what really happened. That’s the horse puddle conspiracy theorists never notice they’ve stepped into.

Fools believe the QAnonsense because they’re fools, unaware that their conspiracy daydreams are created by actual nefarious actors — Donald Trump, and other, less obvious shemps and charlatans.

There’s still that one undeniable fact, though: Government officials lie, often. We’d have fewer conspiracy kooks, higher vaccination rates, and a healthier democracy if our leaders stopped lying so much.
