Cranky Old Man #91
a frothy mix of leftovers and links
After fifty years of work, the Equal Rights Amendment has been ratified by the required 38 states.
Next comes the work of getting the national archivist to certify and publish it, because most of the powers that be seem to be opposed:
Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.

It’s currently in the final stages of construction at a ship yard in the Netherlands. Steven Spielberg also has one on order, after listing his old yacht for $158 million. It sold in November for an undisclosed price.
