News you need,
but might’ve missed

Trump murder spree continues — US attacks three boats and leaves survivors — now a search-and-kill operation

The headline refers to these boats as “alleged drug vessels,” but “alleged” means charges that haven’t been proven in court. By plan, there people will never be charged or see a courtroom, and never have any chance to be innocent until proven guilty. Only the Trump administration — a very, very unreliable source — says they’re drug smugglers or “narco-terrorists,” but all we know with certainty is that they’re target practice, which makes these killings premeditated murder.

Because Colorado imprisoned wingnut election denier who broke election security laws, Trump vetoes unanimously approved, Boebert-sponsored water bill

Excerpt: More recently, Colorado has come under scrutiny for not complying with Trump’s requests to release Tina Peters from prison. Peters was a former Mesa County clerk who was sentenced to nine years in prison for her role in the security breach at her local elections office during the 2020 election. It is nearly unprecedented for a president to veto a bill that had a voting rate of 100-0 in the Senate and 435-0 in the House. The Congress website did not have any instances recorded in its database.

Trump’s tangled web of deal-making, policy and riches

The article is a pretty good (though by necessity far too brief) overview of Trump corruption, but I snorted at this line: “This tangled web is a hallmark of the president’s second term, where the lines between US interests and those of Trump’s inner circle are blurred.” Blurred? My ass. Nothing Trump and his inner circle do is even remotely related to US interests.

News always and only from reliable sources, and I decide what’s reliable — no right-wing bullshit, no Substack because fuck Nazis, and no RawStory, Newsweek, or other clickbait sites. Written news is preferred; video links will be rare, and never to videos where a camera is pointed at a reporter or podcaster — that’s show biz, not news. When necessary, links lead to secondary sites that strip away paywalls, aggressive ads, or the original site’s dumbass design.

I’m required to put something here

The US has a long history of removing Central and South American leaders who aren’t friendly enough to Big Money..

Yupsolutely, and it usually only makes things worse.

I had to have the software modified to require only a name. It used to require a name and an email address. Too nosy for me.

Not usually tho. No US intervention anywhere has been for the people, it has always been to benefit our elites and corporations

Remarkable criticism from the NY Times, which along with the Washington Post found out about the Venezuela operation and declined to report it to… “protect the troops”

I can see the moral dilemma, I guess, among journalists who’ve forgotten to be journalists or never knew what it should mean. Maybe they say nothing, if they have advance info on a raid that could capture a murderer, and publishing could screw everything up? Maybe, if the country’s in an actual war?

That’s not Saturday, of course. Saturday was a crime, state-sanctioned terrorism, and keeping quiet makes the Post & Times co-conspirators. I want ’em prosecuted along with Trump and Hegseth, which of course will never happen.

And I’m not even sure about the hypotheticals. When journalists know something, they should report it. Protecting operations so slipshod they leak info in advance ain’t part of the job, or shouldn’t be.

Iran is next. Troop transport tankers and gunships are on their way now.

It’s entirely possible, likely even, but I haven’t seen reports of such a buildup. Are you predicting, or do you have inside information?

Nothing official, all hunch, but yes, based on inside information.

This is prediction more than hunch: While Trump has nominal contrl of Venezuela, it will be the primary dumping ground for the green card cancelees and burrito salesmen and roofers and pqarking scofflaws and anyone caught speaking Spanish and everyone else rounded up by ICE.

That’s in keeping with the ethos and pattern of Trump & the Republicans. Give ’em a centimeter, they’ll take a kilometer.
