AND NOW THE NEWS

News you need,
but might’ve missed
The headline refers to these boats as “alleged drug vessels,” but “alleged” means charges that haven’t been proven in court. By plan, there people will never be charged or see a courtroom, and never have any chance to be innocent until proven guilty. Only the Trump administration — a very, very unreliable source — says they’re drug smugglers or “narco-terrorists,” but all we know with certainty is that they’re target practice, which makes these killings premeditated murder.

Democrats, you’ll recall, shut down the government for a month and a half, purportedly to prevent this, and then folded like origami in exchange for piffle and a pinky-promise.

Excerpt: More recently, Colorado has come under scrutiny for not complying with Trump’s requests to release Tina Peters from prison. Peters was a former Mesa County clerk who was sentenced to nine years in prison for her role in the security breach at her local elections office during the 2020 election. It is nearly unprecedented for a president to veto a bill that had a voting rate of 100-0 in the Senate and 435-0 in the House. The Congress website did not have any instances recorded in its database.

Trump’s tangled web of deal-making, policy and riches
The article is a pretty good (though by necessity far too brief) overview of Trump corruption, but I snorted at this line: “This tangled web is a hallmark of the president’s second term, where the lines between US interests and those of Trump’s inner circle are blurred.” Blurred? My ass. Nothing Trump and his inner circle do is even remotely related to US interests.

News always and only from reliable sources, and I decide what’s reliable — no right-wing bullshit, no Substack because fuck Nazis, and no RawStory, Newsweek, or other clickbait sites. Written news is preferred; video links will be rare, and never to videos where a camera is pointed at a reporter or podcaster — that’s show biz, not news. When necessary, links lead to secondary sites that strip away paywalls, aggressive ads, or the original site’s dumbass design.
